FirstRoot is the world’s first platform for collaborative financial decision making in schools. With the FirstRoot app, students work together to invest real money on projects that they create. Here’s how it works:

1) A teacher or school signs up and sets a budget

2) Students create proposals for investment in their school

3) Students learn about finance and refine their proposals

4) Classmates vote on the proposals

5) Winning proposals are implemented

FirstRoot’s app follows the principles of Participatory Budgeting, a method of democratic financial decision making endorsed by the United Nations and in use all over the world.
